Description

Ages: 18 - Adult. Landscaping with native plants has several advantages over traditional approaches – they can withstand sub-zero temperatures, summer heat, drought, and insect predation all without supplemental water, fertilizers, or sprays. In addition to less maintenance and their beauty, native plants have co-evolved relationships with our native insects, and together, form the foundation of the food chain that supports butterflies, bees, birds, predators, and other wildlife. In this virtual class, learn why native plant landscaping is a superior approach to fostering biological diversity and some tips and pointers on how to put together a native landscape. You will have opportunities to ask questions in real time. Instructor: Drew Lathin owns Creating Sustainable Landscapes, LLC. He is creating ecologically restorative landscapes for residential, commercial, and public spaces by utilizing native plants which support wildlife, reduce resource inputs, and create lively and healthy outdoor living spaces. 1 class.
