Description

SUMMER IS CALLING!

This day camp is 100% outdoors.

This Day Camp session includes swim lessons (while space is available): If registering for this weekly session, the day camp program will include two (2) thirty (30) minute swim lessons, which will take place during the day camp program. There is an extra fee associated with attending a day camp that includes swim lesson (an additional $20-$30 total, per week and per child, depending on the location). During day camp, on swim lesson days, YMCA Day Camp staff will escort campers registered for these swim lessons to the pool twice a week; YMCA Day Camp staff will assist campers with getting prepared for the lesson and will supervise campers while they are in the swim lesson. The swim lessons will be taught by a YMCA Swim Instructor and the pool will be guarded by YMCA Lifeguards. The exact two days and the exact time will be announced during the first week of day camp. For questions on swim lessons, please contact childcare@ymcala.org. There is no waiting list for day camp swim lessons. Once this program is full, we will not open additional spaces. If this program is full, please register for the day camp session that does not include swim lessons, if space is available. Due to limited space and for planning purposes, day camp swim lessons are non-refundable, non-transferrable and may not be exchanged for YMCA credit. Once a child is registered for a day camp swim lesson session, the sale is considered final. Please see day camp swim lesson financial policies below.

JOIN AS A YMCA MEMBER AND SAVE! YMCA Day Camp and Child Care programs are open for enrollment to the entire community. A YMCA membership is not required to enroll and participate in a YMCA Day Camp or Child Care program. This summer, we are offering Membership Pricing! JOIN and become a YMCA member and save up to $40 per week, per child, on Summer Day Camp. You can join the Y at https://www.ymcala.org/membership or by emailing Membership@ymcala.org. Please note the following:

  • In order to receive the discounted membership pricing, you must have a Family Membership at any Los Angeles YMCA branch at the time that you enroll for the day camp, and both the payer (the parent, guardian, etc.) and the child, must be on the membership. If you register for day camp before joining as a member, the YMCA cannot go back and adjust your fees and the YMCA will not issue credits or refunds for the difference in price, of any kind.
  • You must maintain your family membership through the summer. If you cancel your membership before the end of your child’s last summer session, you will no longer qualify for membership pricing and your account will be adjusted to the non-member price.
  • The Downey, Santa Clarita, Southeast Rio Vista at Maywood and Wilmington YMCA’s have a standard weekly price for day camp (they do not currently offer a member/non-member price differential).
  • Sports & Specialty and Expo day camps at the West Valley, North Valley and Torrance-South Bay YMCA’s and the CIT program at the Palisades-Malibu YMCA as well as North Valley YMCA's Junior Leader and Tiny Tot camps all have a standard weekly price (they do not currently offer a member/non-member price differential for these specific programs – all other day camp programs at the West Valley, North Valley, Torrance-South Bay & Palisades-Malibu YMCA’s offer member/non-member price discounts).

YMCA PROGRAM HANDBOOK ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: By registering for this program, the parent, guardian or authorized representative of the enrolled child acknowledges that they have read, understood and agreed to all the policies and procedures for enrollment in this YMCA program. In addition, the parent, guardian or authorized representative acknowledges that they have received, read, understood and agreed to the most recent edition of the YMCA Handbook for this program. The YMCA Program Handbook is available to download at www.ymcala.org/daycamp or via request to childcare@ymcala.org.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: The YMCA reserves the right to modify the program schedule, as the YMCA sees appropriate, without prior notice to the parent, guardian or authorized representative of the child. This includes but is not limited to: weekly themes, weekly planned activities, weekly field trips (including field trips and vendors that come to the Y) and the weekly curriculum. The YMCA makes no guarantees that the day camp schedule will match the advertised schedule, as things may change between the time that the schedule is prepared and the time of program operation.

PAYMENT DUE DATES: There are three options to pay for your child’s summer program (options can be done in combination): (1) register online and pay week-by-week, pending space availability, (2) register online and pay in full for all desired weekly sessions, or (3) register online and reserve your child’s space by placing $25 non-refundable deposit for each weekly session you wish to reserve. All deposits paid towards a weekly program session are nonrefundable, non-transferrable and cannot be used as a program credit. For the 2024 summer season, the last day (the deadline) to place a $25 deposit and reserve a weekly session is Friday, May 31, 2024. Deposits will not be accepted after this date. After this date, any day camp enrollments must be paid in full at the time of registration, via option (1) or option (2), as listed above. When placing a deposit, the remaining balance of the program weekly session fee must then be paid, in full, via a pre-set automatic transfer service (ATS) draft, by the Monday prior to the start of each weekly session. Please note that if placing a $25 deposit, the balance for the week will be drafted the Monday prior to the start of each weekly session, meaning 7 days prior to the start of each week.

CHANGES & CANCELLATIONS: For School Break Programs, A written request is required for all program changes, cancellations and refund requests. Without proper written request, the change, cancellation or refund request will be denied.

  • All deposits paid towards a weekly program session are nonrefundable, non-transferrable and cannot be used as a program credit.
  • For School Break Programs During the Summer (such as a summer day camp): The deadline to submit a written request for a cancellation, change or refund is the Wednesday prior to the draft for each weekly session (Please note, the weekly draft is the Monday prior to the start of each School Break Program weekly session). This deadline applies to all day camp enrollments, regardless of if the enrollment is paid in full, paid via deposit with a balance or paid week-to-week. YMCA School Break Programs are charged based on the weekly sessions that the parent, guardian or authorized individual selected at the time of online enrollment and it is therefore their responsibility to ensure that any request for cancellations, changes or refunds is submitted by the deadline.
  • No credits, refunds or transfers will be granted for a weekly program session once the deadline for changes and cancellations has passed. This includes a program enrollment that happens after the deadline for changes and cancellations has passed. If a child is enrolled in a weekly program session AFTER the deadline for changes and cancellations has passed for that particular weekly program session, the enrollment and the sale are considered FINAL. The YMCA will not issue a credit, refund or transfer for request made after the deadline for cancellations and changes has passed, regardless of when the child was registered and enrolled in to the program by the payer.
  • PLEASE NOTE: The Torrance-South Bay YMCA has a separate cancellation and changes policy for their Sports & Specialty Day Camps. These programs are offered in partnership with outside vendors. In many cases, these outside vendors are secured in advance, based on enrollment and expected attendance. For this reason, the following policies will be enforced for all Specialty & Sports Day Camps offered through the Torrance-South Bay YMCA:
    • At the time of registration, the payment is due in full. There is no option to place a deposit.
    • Requests for Cancellations and Changes must be submitted in writing to ChildCare@ymcala.org 15-Days prior to the start of each session. Without such notice, no cancellation or change will be processed.
    • If the written request for a cancellation is received by the deadline, the cancellation will be processed and a 50% refund will be granted. Because the YMCA is partnering with outside vendors, a full refund cannot be processed.
  • Day Camp Swim Lessons: All Sales Are Final Policy:
    • Due to limited space and for planning purposes, day camp swim lessons are non-refundable, non-transferrable and may not be exchanged for YMCA credit. Once a child is registered for a day camp swim lesson session, the sale is considered final. This will allow the YMCA to have an accurate participant count for the purposes of staffing YMCA lifeguards and YMCA swim instructors. The YMCA will not issue a refund, credit or permit the lesson(s) to be transferred under any circumstances, including, but not limited to, canceling from the day camp weekly session, non-attendance, emergency, etc. By registering for a day camp weekly session with swim lessons, the parent/guardian/authorized representative of the child/participant acknowledges that the sale is final and that the YMCA will not issue a refund, transfer or credit of the day camp swim lesson under any circumstances. By registering for this program, the parent/guardian or authorized representative of the child/participant acknowledges that they understand this policy and that this policy must be agreed upon by the parent/guardian or authorized representative of the child/participant prior to enrollment.

CANCELLATION FEES (FOR SCHOOL BREAK PROGRAMS)

  • If paid in full, all approved refund requests for a School Break Program will be subject to a $25 cancellation fee. Approval of the refund is contingent upon adherence to the cancellation policies listed above.
  • If a $25 deposit was placed and there is a balance due, the deposit paid is non-refundable, non-transferrable and cannot be used as a program credit.

All deposits paid towards a weekly program session are nonrefundable, non-transferrable and cannot be used as a program credit.
