What can we learn about vintage hats from the reverse engineering process? Take a part a vintage hat and repurpose to suit your own style. Leslie provides a vintage hat for you to deconstruct and assemble with new fabrics, feathers, beads, buttons and other options.

Leslie Robinson is a Maker who hails from rural Illinois. She has spent the past twenty-something years soaking up the vibrant feast that is Los Angeles. Always interested in fashion and design, she spontaneously registered for a class from a local hat maker. One session convinced her that this was her passion and calling. She has since become a full time Milliner, having sewn for several seasons for Louise Green Millinery. She is currently involved in a Repair and Restoration project for Eastern Costume's large hat repository. Leslie teaches courses on all aspects of Millinery--join her for a class and learn how putting on a hat can change your life!

The Camera Obscura Art Lab hosts six artists-in-residence annually, and offers workshops with a changing roster of residents and teaching artists. Here you can learn dance moves, polish your writing, sew a seam, check out artists at work and find a creative community!
