Join Milliner Leslie Robinson for this 2-part class, where you will create a finished straw sun hat. Students will use hat blocks to shape their pieces. Ribbon, feathers and a variety of other trims will be on hand to complete the look. Whether you choose a floppy wide brim, fedora or cloche?hats are a practical accessory for summer!
In this class some hand-sewing experience is helpful, though not required.
Leslie Robinson is a Maker that hails from rural Illinois. She has spent the past twenty-something years soaking up the vibrant feast that is Los Angeles. Always interested in fashion and design, she spontaneously registered for a class from a local hat maker. One session convinced her that this was her passion and calling. She has since become a full time Milliner, having sewn for several seasons for Louise Green Millinery. She is currently involved in a Repair and Restoration project for Eastern Costume's large hat repository. Leslie teaches courses on all aspects of Millinery-join her for a class and learn how putting on a hat can change your life.
Camera Obscura Art Lab at 1450 Ocean offers arts, crafts and culture classes year-round. Polish your writing, take a better picture, learn how to make paper, knit, sew, and find a community of artists and movers!
