Description
Registration for lifeguarding classes can be refunded in full or transferred to another class more than two weeks prior to the pre-test for the class. Students who withdraw or transfer to another class after this date or do not pass the pre-test will receive a refund minus a $50 service fee.
The purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding Class is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatics emergencies and to provide professional-level care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services (EMS) personnel take over.
Candidates must successfully complete a pre-course on April 19th.
Complete a swim-tread-swim sequence without stopping to rest:
- Swim 150 yards of front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both, continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing.
- Tread water for two minutes using only the legs. Candidates should place their hands under the armpits.
- Swim 50 yards of front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both, continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing.
