Swim assessments are required for all swimmers who are new to the Plano Parks & Recreation swim program or those who have had years between previous swim classes. Participants may register for a swim level assessment using the American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim program criteria. Participants must be at least six years old. Participants who are not comfortable moving through the water independently do not need an assessment and should enroll in Level 1.
Additional Information
Participants will be in the water independently for approximately 5-10 minutes and tested on swim skills such as treading water, front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, etc. This assessment does not guarantee registration spots for participants.
This is not a retest for students who have had group classes nor is it for private swim lesson assessments. For questions regarding assessments of current students, please contact the aquatics coordinator of the center at which the student participated in lessons.
