Description

This is a service-learning approved, volunteer program designed to prepare teens for a lifeguard job. Participants receive instruction on pool safety, emergency response, professionalism and are required to assist with Learn to Swim Lessons. Lessons may occur in the morning and/or evening depending on the pool.

Participants must:
Volunteer at least 30 hours over the course of the season
Be able to swim 100 yards continuously
Be able to tread water for 60 seconds
Be able to surface dive and swim under water for 10 yards

Refund Policy
• Swim lessons, water aerobics, and FlowRider league: a transfer or refund (minus non-refundable fees) will be provided up to the end of the second meeting of the activity. • Swim teams: a transfer or refund (minus non-refundable fees) will be provided up to 5 days after the start of the activity. • Aquatics passes, season packages, Dive-In Movies, and Special events are non-refundable. • For Swim Lessons and Water Aerobics, there will be a prorated refund after three missed classes for those classes missed due to inclement weather or cancellations by the City of Mesa. • Lifeguard training and WSI certification a transfer or refund (minus any non-refundable fees) will be provided up to seven days before the start of the activity. • Lap swim is non-refundable; changes to reservations must be requested prior to the start of the reservation start time

Guardians, please plan to attend activity orientation on either Wednesday, May 8 at Kino Aquatic Center or Wednesday, May 15, at Skyline Aquatic Center from 6:30pm - 8:00pm. At this meeting you will be introduced to junior guard coaches and will receive detailed information about scheduling shifts, weekly trainings, and volunteer expectations.

Additionally, junior guards are expected to attend their first in-service at Mesa Aquatic Complex on Friday, May 24, from 2:00pm - 4:00pm.
