Description
This course follows the growth of jazz over its first 100 years as it evolved from entertainment into an art form. Explore major styles such as blues, bebop, cool jazz, and bossa nova, and the stories of the musicians who defined them.
In addition, discover the sociological forces that shaped jazz history into a history of freedom, both personal and musical. This class is designed for students of all skill levels, all instruments, and for anyone interested in the history of jazz. Knowledge of music theory is not a requirement for enrolling in the course.
