Description

Have you ever wanted to learn to play jazz but didn't know where to start? This new course for adult instrumentalists covers the basics of playing jazz in a welcoming, supportive setting.

Students learn how to create music from a 'lead sheet' style chart, how to improvise, how to play in a small jazz combo, and basic jazz repertoire. Students of all musical backgrounds are encouraged to join. Whether you have only played classical music or grew up on pop and rock, everyone is welcome to come explore jazz.

Please note: This course is open to adult instrumentalists who play melody and harmony instruments (other classes are available for drummers/percussionists and vocalists). Piano(s) and amplifiers for electric guitar/bass are provided. This course may be taken as a prerequisite to participation in a Jazz Combo.
