Get ready for an open water birding extravaganza on Eagle Creek Reservoir. This event will focus on finding and identifying birds from a canoe or kayak. While birding, we might spot Great Blue Herons, Belted Kingfishers, Double Crested Cormorants, Osprey, Eagles and more!
We will meet at the Earth Discovery Center at 10AM and review safety guidelines and open water birding goals. Canoe and kayak launch will occur at the Earth Discovery Center’s dock, which is located down the hill next to the two gray porta-potties.
Are you able to bring your own kayak or canoe? Great! Register for a discounted $15/vessel. Only one person, age 18+, needs to register and pay per vessel.
If you bring your own canoe/kayak and personal flotation device (PFDs), the registration cost includes binoculars, an open water birding guide, assistance with launching your vessel, and guidance while on the water. The ECP gate fee is also included, as well as the car-top boat entrance fee!
If you would like to rent a canoe ($25), please see this program instead: _________________________________________________________
This program is part of the 8th Annual Birding Festival taking place at Eagle Creek Park Saturday May 10 and Sunday, May 11. Most of the other activities are free with park admission.
