Description

Henrico County and the Asian and Latino Solidarity Alliance (ALSA) recognize the value of creating and providing an opportunity for multicultural communities to learn more about how local government works and how you can become more engaged in the civic process and connected to the community.

Henrico County is accepting applications for My Henrico Academy (MHA), a free program that helps multicultural communities connect with their local government and community ad well as access a host of programs, services and resources. MHA is a free and interactive, engaging learning program offered in partnership with the ALSA. Participants attend seven sessions from May to October that allow them the opportunity to learn about county governance, meet county leaders, and learn about Henrico programs and services.

In addition to gaining a better understanding of how local government works, you will:
  • Obtain the skills necessary that will allow you to navigate the governmental and the social and human services systems independently, effectively, and efficiently;
  • Learn how to resolve issues and obtain information;
  • Expand your network and become prepared to pursue leadership opportunities within the community.
My Henrico Academy 2022 Program Sessions

2022 Sessions will be offered on Wednesdays from 4-8 p.m. at different locations throughout the county. Each session will include a culturally diverse meal. COVID protocols will be enforced at every session. The sessions will be in person but will allow for appropriate spacing and masks will be enforced except for when eating. We will reevaluate the protocols as guidance changes. To learn more about Henrico’s COVID protocols go to henrico.us.
