Volunteer Restoration Workday

This workday is at Churchill Woods Forest Preserve. After you register you'll receive an email with a link to a PDF with important workday instructions and a map. Please read everything carefully before attending. If you don't receive this email, contact the Forest Preserve District at 630-206-9630 or nrvolunteer@dupageforest.org.

Volunteers under 18 cannot attend the workday alone. Minimally, there must be one adult for every eight children ages 12 to 13 and one for every 10 teens ages 14 to 17. (High school students are encouraged to volunteer in groups of two or more.)

Volunteer workdays cannot be applied to court-ordered community service. For these types of projects call the Forest Preserve District's Human Resources department at 630-933-7682.

COVID-19 Precautions

During this time the District is taking extra safety precautions to protect our volunteers, staff, patrons, and the community. Please make note of the following safety precautions:

In alignment with new CDC guidelines and the governor’s executive order, fully vaccinated employees and volunteers are no longer required to wear masks.

District employees and volunteers who are not fully vaccinated must:

-practice social distancing

-wear face coverings when social distancing is not always possible

Any employee or visitor who prefers wearing a mask for any reason, regardless of vaccination status, is encouraged to continue to do so.

For projects with canvas gloves, a pair can be issued to borrow for the event and then will be stored for a week after to disinfect. Volunteers are always welcome to bring their own work gloves for use.

Volunteers should bring their own water or snack if needed. For hot days, please bring extra water.

Volunteers should bring their own sunscreen and/or bug spray if needed (seasonal).

Water fountains are still unavailable and bathroom access may be limited.

If tools are required for an activity, volunteers will be assigned their own tools to use for the assignment. These will be sanitized before and after use.

If any volunteer is sick, is home with someone who is sick, or is showing any symptoms of COVID-19, PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND THE WORKDAY.
