Description

Bring your budding naturalists (ages 2-4) and be their adventure buddy for this 90-minute all-outdoor adventure.

In this five-week program, you and your child will Wonder, Investigate, Learn and Discover (WILD) in our city parks. You and your child will explore a park this season and examine why it's unique. We will search for signs of the season like fallen leaves or standing water. The program includes a lot of movement, nature connection, and hands-on activities. A Corvallis Environmental Center educator from their NaturePlay Preschool will engage children in exploration of place, active child-centered play, social and emotional skill building, scientific thinking and curiosity.

Each week will build on the last. The program will use an emergent curriculum model where children's ideas will influence the direction of future sessions, going a little deeper into a topic week after week. This program is geared towards 2-4 year olds. Older and younger siblings are also invited to join. This program will be an adventure of discovery where children's interests and ideas are valued and adults and children learn and grow together.

This program will take place in one or more city parks with access to an indoor area and happen rain or shine. You'll get an email with more details about where to meet before the program begins. Parks may include: Willamette, Avery, Chepenefa, Bruce Starker Arts Park, MLK Jr., Tunison and Chintimini.
