Description
Museum of the Grand Prairie, Lake of the Woods Forest Preserve 7-8:30 p.m.
Did you know that a single Illinois bat can eat up to 3,000 insects each night? Join us to learn more about these ecologically important mammals! After a short presentation indoors, we will walk to the Covered Bridge to look for the bats that roost there. Representatives from the Illinois Bat Conservation Project will be on hand with special technology to detect and identify bats by their calls. $3 per person. Program recommended for ages 4 and up*. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Space is limited; registration required by August 9 at ccfpd.org. For more info: (217) 896-2455 or jwick@ccfpd.org.
*See “adults only” program on August 17 where we will have a more in-depth discussion on bat ecology.
