PLAYERS SHOULD BE IN THE 8TH GRADE IN FALL 2024 FOR THIS LEAGUE. Registration availability in all leagues is limited based on the number of staff/volunteers that are available and facility space. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis, and will close at the deadline or when divisions are full- whichever comes first.

6th-8th Grade Basketball League

Whether your child is new to basketball or a seasoned player…they will have fun in our jr. high basketball league. Paid coaches will help your player grow their fundamentals and teach them game strategies throughout the season. Teams will practice once per week. A reversible jersey with a number is included in the registration cost.

*UPDATE!* The jr. high boys league will be running January-March (the same time as the jr. high girls league)

UPDATES: Players will be emailed their team information (from an @chicorec.com address) by 1/10/25.

PRACTICES: Starting the week of 1/13/25. Practices day and time are dependent on the coach and gym availability. Teams will have one 1.5 hour practice per week on non-game days.

GAMES: Starting the week of 1/13/25. Wednesdays and/or Fridays, starting between 4-8pm based on number of teams in the league (6 game guarantee per team, with the 6th game starting a single elimination end of season tournament). Each game is approximately one hour. All game days are tentative and are subject to change.

UNIFORMS: Cost of a reversible jersey is included in registration.
Coaches: Coaches in the 6th-8th grade leagues will be CARD paid staff.

LOCATIONS: Practice and game locations are dependent on gym availability. Locations may vary by week.

SPECIAL REQUESTS: One buddy request can be made during the registration process. Please read the buddy request process (found at: www.chicorec.gov/youth-sports-general-information) closely to ensure it is valid.
  • Please remember this is only a request, not a guarantee.
  • Buddies must request each other to be valid.
  • Coach or practice time requests are not accepted.
TEAM FORMATION: Teams will be loosely based on grade and where players attend school. Genders will be in separate divisions. Grades will be combined if there are not enough players in a specific grade to run a league on its own (for example: 6th-8th may combine into one league if necessary) All team formation is at the discretion of CARD staff.
  • Skills Evaluations: CARD will contact participants for a mandatory skills evaluation if needed. Skills evaluations will not be necessary for all schools.

Players should register for the grade they will be in Fall 2024. This division is for participants that will be in the 8TH GRADE in Fall 2024.

Please note that the times/dates assigned in the system should be disregarded (they are simply in as placeholders for gym space- not the final or accurate times). Participants and guardians should reference the days/times in the description, and then their final practice and game times will be emailed by Friday 1/10/25.
