Community Build - Billy Cordova Memorial Park - 9-7-2024

Join BV Rec for the Community Build Playground Installation for Billy Cordova Memorial Park! Please be sure to register all family members who will be participating in the build! Pre-registration is required.

On Saturday, September 7, a group of volunteers will work to assemble and mount the playground equipment for the park. This Community Build will be led by Star Playgrounds, who also designed the playground. Lunch will be provided.

Due to the limitations of the site, we are looking for 30 dedicated community members to contribute to this day. We are also limiting participation to ages 13 and older. If you have children younger than 13 or would like to contribute to the event in other ways (registration, snack/lunch table, etc.), please contact Shane at sbasford@buenavistaco.gov.

Please note that we will be holding a second Community Build Day for Billy Cordova Memorial Park later this fall, likely in October. The second build day will focus on small plantings, tree fencing, labyrinth construction, and trail construction/maintenance.

What to Wear - Close-toe comfortable shoes, hat, work gloves, weather-appropriate clothing

What to Bring - Water bottle, sunscreen, personal snacks

8:00am - Volunteers Begin Arriving, Sign-in at the Registration Table, Unwrap the playground equipment

8:30am - Welcome and Kick-off - Installer will explain logistics, flow of the day, safety, questions/concerns

8:45 am - Volunteers organized into groups and start to preassemble equipment and set decks and posts

11:00am - Concrete mixing begins

11:30am - Lunch is served

12:30pm - Construction starts back up

3:00pm - Playground is completed*

*Actual time will vary depending on size of playground, number of volunteers,

weather, etc.
