Beethoven’s Nine: Ode to Humanity – Canada, 83 min, 2024

Beethoven’s Ninth was the first symphony in history to be accompanied by words –about love and freedom, hope and peace, and embracing humanity. It was written both as a love letter to all of humankind and as a powerful protest piece. Larry Weinstein explores the stories of nine individuals, connected to this symphony in different ways. As recent life and world events collide, Weinstein is pulled into the story by shining a light on how it is difficult to separate art from life.
