Painting & Mixed Media: Oil, Acrylic & Experimental Materials
Instructor: Marat Paransky
This painting class will explore the intersection between
oil/acrylic painting and experimental materials and actions.
There will be technical instruction through demos, discussion
of examples in books and slideshows, and studio time to work
on the projects. Topics will include: mounting materials, marks
and stains, unusual supports, text in paintings, found images &
automatic drawing All skill levels welcome. Students will need to
have traditional painting supplies, as well as a handful of other,
basic supplies for the first class. Enrollment is limited to 8 students
per class and all students must wear a mask in the building at all times.

Enrollment is limited to 8 students per class and all students must wear a mask in 
the building at all times.

Materials List

*** Please bring your usual oil and acrylic painting supplies to every class.
We will be using them from the first session to the last.
Note: if painting with oils, please use Turpenoid or Gamsol - not the real,
strong-smelling turpentine or even the "odorless" turpentine because of the masked,
toxic fumes.

- Acrylic matte medium?no smaller than 8oz
- Acrylic modeling/molding paste?no smaller than 8oz
- Polyvinyl Acetate (PVA)?archival, no smaller than 8oz
- Bone folder
- Roll of wax paper
- Magazines/books/pictures that can be cut up
- Scissors
- Box cutter/utility knife
- Putty knives
- Clean, empty containers?sour cream containers or something similar
- Rags
- Notepad for notes
