Painting: Narrative Landscape
Instructor: Clinton Snider
This class takes a personal approach to landscape painting
as a way to investigate the world and share our findings. Students
will learn how to render the landscape, starting from its simplest
elements and proceeding to render details and relationships.
Various aspects of landscape painting will be covered, depending
on the level of each student. These will include lectures on environment
and current practices, current and past artists, slides of various settings
and formal aspects such as: understanding values, color relationships,
perspective, drawing, and different ways of handling pigment. There will
be an emphasis on the many ways landscape painting is being expressed
today. This course is suitable for beginners as well asadvanced students.
All painting mediums are welcome.

Instructor: Clinton SniderMATERIALS LISTThe supplies for class are open to student preferences - oil, acrylic or watercolor,
pastel, pencil, pen & ink etc. It is recommended that each student have a sketchbook
and some painting materials to start working in class on the first day. New students
to the class may want to bring in past work to discuss possible directions in their
current art.
