Description
Participants will receive information, training and experiences to prepare them for positions as junior counselors and counselors in various youth-serving organizations. Team building, role-playing and hands-on application will highlight a week of fun and personal growth. A high level of maturity is a must for participants. Participants who successfully complete the week's camp activities will be required to volunteer with Auburn Parks, Art and Recreation summer camps. Teens can apply to the Counselor in Training program to learn how to be successful and prepare for the role of future camp counselor. Participants must be 14-16 years old by the start of camp to participate in this program and only 6 will be selected! In 5 steps, your teen could be a C.I.T. Step 1: Apply here by April 28th, Step 2: Interview with staff, Step 3: Pay the program fee, Step 4: Complete the training program (June 26- June 30: first week of regular camp) and Step 5: Volunteer at camp

Notes
Bring a sack lunch, snacks, water bottle and sunscreen every day. Drop -off and pick up will be outside The REC each day. Please note: The Counselor In Training (C.I.T) program requires participants to attend one week of training on June 26 – June 30, 2023 and to volunteer at a City of Auburn summer camp for at least 100 hours between July 7th – August 25th, 2023. If your teen is selected as a C.I.T, your teen will work with the camp supervisor to create a schedule for the summer.
