Description

Overview:
This braiding class focuses on mastering the art of knotless and box braids, two popular and versatile
braiding styles. Students will learn various techniques, tips, and tricks to create flawless braids that
are both stylish and durable. Through hands-on practice and demonstrations, participants will gain
confidence and proficiency in executing these braiding styles.
Materials Required:
- Braiding hair (kanekalon or synthetic) - Hair moisturizer/conditioner
- Rat-tail comb - Towel or hair cape
- Hair clips - Scissors
- Hair ties
Week 1:
Overview to Hair Braiding
- Overview of types and patterns of braids
- Tools and equipment
- Health and safety
Introduction to Knotless Braids
- Understanding the fundamentals of knotless braids
- Sectioning and parting techniques
- Proper tension and grip
- Hands-on practice: creating basic knotless braids
Week 2:
Advanced Knotless Braiding Techniques
- Adding extensions seamlessly
- Achieving a natural-looking finish
- Braid removal and scalp care
- Troubleshooting common issues
- Hands-on practice: mastering intricate knotless braiding patterns
Week 3:
Introduction to Box Braids
- Overview of box braid fundamentals
- Prepping the hair and selecting the right extensions
- Sectioning and parting techniques for box braids
- Hands-on practice: creating foundational box braids
Week 4:
Advanced Box Braiding Techniques
- Adding dimension with different braid sizes

- Creating patterns and designs
- Enhancing durability and longevity
- Braid removal and scalp care
- Hands-on practice: mastering advanced box braiding styles
Week 5:
Refining Skills and Final Projects
- Reviewing key concepts and techniques
- Q&A session and troubleshooting
- Final project: students will showcase their mastery by creating a braided style of their choice
- Feedback and tips for continued improvement

Class Expectations:
- Students come to class with clean, detangled hair.
- Students should be prepared to actively participate and practice braiding techniques.
- Students should ask questions and seek clarification when needed.
- Respect the learning environment and fellow classmates.
- Students should practice outside of class hours
